About Freia

Freia is to Norway what Marabou is to Sweden — the definitive national chocolate brand. Founded in 1889 in Oslo, Freia is best known for Melkesjokolade (milk chocolate) and Kvikk Lunsj (the wafer bar that Norwegians take on every mountain hike). Freia also makes Smash!, a wildly addictive snack of chocolate-coated corn puffs that has developed a cult following outside Scandinavia. Now owned by Mondelez International (same parent as Marabou), Freia products are regularly sold alongside Swedish candy in US specialty stores, Amazon, and Nordic import shops. While Norwegian, Freia is an essential part of the Scandinavian candy experience Americans are discovering.
